X-ray technologies are at the stage of active development. There are new methods of image processing, methods that reduce radiation exposure by several times. With the help of special devices, you can analyze the condition of bones and internal organs. There are models with an extended set of functions.

Types of X-ray machines

Digital and high-tech machines have replaced film models, which have been deemed obsolete for several years. New models make it possible to work with images in more detail and determine the problem as accurately as possible. X-ray complexes practically do not register scattered radiation, due to which the harmful background becomes minimal.

There are two types of equipment: stationary and portable. The latter is relevant for municipal health care institutions and  private clinics and centers. With the help of stationary equipment, it is possible to examine the entire spinal column.

Portable types are relevant for use outside clinics. Sometimes they are used for diagnostics directly in the ward. The power supply is connected via the network or using a battery.

Popular models of X-ray machines:

  • For use within ward. This is a relatively small model. Often equipped with wheels for ease of movement. Suitable for transportation.
  • Portable. It has minimal measurements and small weight. It can be taken with you on trips and it is suitable for frequent transportation. Differs in the standard functionality necessary for carrying out the emergency diagnostics.
  • C-arc. The design consists of a C-shaped stand, X-ray tube and image intensifier. It can work with highly detailed images. Procedures and operations are carried out with this type, since it allows continuous fluoroscopy. It facilitates access to the patient and provides a wider field of view.

Some models of X-ray machines can take both digital and film images. You can also find options with improved visualization. It is achieved through fluoroscopy and ultrasound.

Principle and features of operation

The relevance of the use of X-rays is related to their penetrating power. At first, X-rays were used to obtain data on foreign bodies in the body and on bone deformities. Today it has found application in other areas of medicine. Despite the relative safety, doctors advise against its excessive use because there is still a risk of causing  serious skin damage.

The principle of operation is to conduct voltage to the control panel. After adjustment, it is transferred to the transformer. Gradually increasing, the voltage reaches the x-ray tube. A ray is formed. It passes through the skin and is absorbed by muscle and bone tissue. Rays absorb calcium better, so the bones in the image have a rich white colour. Automated systems of the new generation operate so that the image appears immediately after the device is turned on.

X-rays are used for prevention, diagnosis and treatment. It allows you to timely identify tuberculosis, oncological problems. As a study method, it is relevant not only in traumatology, but also in neurology, rheumatology, ophthalmology and other fields.
